Wike: Obi Was a “Social Media Candidate” Without Winning Prospects

Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has explained his decision not to support Peter Obi in the last presidential election, citing Obi’s lack of electoral viability.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Wike said, “No, he has no chance to win election. I don’t do social media candidate.” He maintained that his political approach is to analyze and support contenders with a credible chance of success.
Wike argued that being popular online does not guarantee victory at the polls, emphasizing, “In politics, it’s not always the right that oh, this is the best candidate. No, no, no.”
He also referenced the turbulent pre-election atmosphere and commended President Tinubu for overcoming significant hurdles, stating, “But everything was done and he survived. He survived it.”
