Senate Slams Bakare for ‘Rubber-Stamp’ Allegation

The Senate has lambasted Pastor Tunde Bakare for his recent assertion that the 10th National Assembly is a “rubber-stamp” for the executive. Senator Yemi Adaramodu, in an official statement, called Bakare’s remarks “biased and political,” warning that such rhetoric could erode public trust in democratic institutions.
Bakare’s Easter address accused the Assembly of legislative rascality and criticised its endorsement of the emergency rule in Rivers State. He also highlighted insecurity in Plateau, Benue, and Enugu states.
Adaramodu countered that Bakare’s criticisms were not only unfair but also politically charged, given his history as a presidential contender. The Senate, he said, remains committed to constructive engagement and upholding the independence of the judiciary by not commenting on sub judice matters.
