Edo Assembly’s Frank Omosigho Rejects Defection Rumors, Stands by PDP

Following the defection of Edo State House of Assembly Speaker Blessing Agbebaku and several PDP members to the APC, Frank Omosigho, representing Oredo East Constituency, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party.
In a statement issued from Benin on Wednesday, Omosigho said he remains a steadfast member of the PDP, under which he was elected to serve his constituents. He addressed circulating speculations about his defection, clarifying that he was not present at the venue where the Speaker and others pledged allegiance to the APC.
“I, Hon. Frank Omosigho, remain firmly committed to the PDP, the party under which I was elected to serve the good people of my constituency. I will be and continue to be an active participant in party activities, advocating for policies that support the advancement of my constituency and the growth of the state,” he said.
Omosigho urged his supporters to ignore misleading reports and continue their support for the PDP, which he called “the most viable vehicle for democratic growth and development in Edo State.” He reaffirmed his focus on governance and strengthening the party, stating, “My stance remains clear: my focus is on the continued well-being of my constituents, effective governance, and the strengthening of the PDP in Edo State.”
With the recent defections, the PDP now holds only six seats in the Edo Assembly out of the 14 it won in 2023, with Omosigho among the remaining members.
