Cross River APC Stakeholders Rally Behind Tinubu, Otu for 2027 Re-election

In a decisive show of solidarity, the Cross River chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu for their respective second terms in office.
The endorsement followed a high-profile stakeholders’ meeting held in Ikom Local Government Area, organized by the Central Progressives Initiative with support from the party’s national leadership.
The meeting featured prominent figures such as Minister of State for Industry John Owan-Enoh, former Senate Leader Victor Ndoma-Egba, Speaker Elvert Ayambem, and ex-Deputy Governor Clement Ebri, alongside past and current legislators. Senator Eteng Williams moved the motion for the endorsement, which was unanimously approved by voice vote, chaired by Ebri.
Williams declared the unanimous backing of the Central Senatorial District for Governor Otu’s re-election, emphasizing the governor’s achievements and the people’s encouragement for further progress: “The applause and support he receives are not just expressions of satisfaction but a clear message for him to continue delivering good governance.” He added that no credible challenger could emerge from the district, and as the elected representative, he was mandated to move the motion.
Speaker Ayambem referred to the central district as the “pillar of APC in Cross River,” noting its political and geographical significance, while Minister Owan-Enoh stated, “When the central speaks, the state has spoken. There is no vacancy in 2027.” Former Senate Leader Ndoma-Egba forecasted a continuing political “earthquake” through 2027 and reaffirmed the need for power rotation, endorsing Otu’s second term.
Other endorsements came from federal lawmakers, including Mike Etaba, and Ambassador Soni Abang, who praised the economic reforms under Tinubu and Otu, highlighting a 50% reduction in state debt. The local government chairmen and Central Commissioners’ Forum also supported the re-election bids, with Commissioner for Information Dr Erasmus Ekpang calling their leadership “transformative.”
APC State Chairman Alphonsus Eba commended the unity and pledged continued party alignment with the leadership’s vision for development and continuity.
