Seven Doors Leads the Pack at AMVCA 2025 with Top Acting Awards

At the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards held on May 10, 2025, Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors emerged as a major winner, clinching the Best Lead Actor award for Adebayo himself and Best Lead Actress for Chioma Chukwuka, whose award was accepted by Adebayo.
This achievement highlights the film’s strong impact and critical recognition within the African film industry.
The gala also honored Nollywood legends Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh with Lifetime Achievement Awards, celebrating their longstanding influence on African cinema. Kayode Kasum received the Trailblazer Award, acknowledging his fresh and boundary-pushing contributions as a director.
Other significant winners included Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi: The Uprising, which won several technical awards such as Best Makeup and was recognized as Best Indigenous Language (West Africa). The ceremony also spotlighted excellence in supporting roles, with Gabriel Afolayan and Mercy Aigbe winning Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively.
The awards for technical and creative categories further underscored the diversity and depth of talent in African filmmaking. Tolu Obanro’s musical score for Seven Doors was awarded Best Score/Music, while My Fairytale Wedding won Best Scripted M-Net Original, and Nigerian Idol took Best Unscripted M-Net Original.
The AMVCA 2025 ceremony gathered the continent’s brightest stars and industry professionals, reinforcing its status as a key event for celebrating African film and television excellence.
