Tinubu Administers Oath to NNPCL Board Reflecting Nigeria’s Regional Diversity

President Bola Tinubu has sworn in the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) board and management at a ceremony held on Thursday at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

This event, occurring seven weeks after the board’s appointment on April 2, 2025, highlights the administration’s commitment to inclusive representation in the nation’s petroleum sector.

The board’s Non-Executive Chairman, Ahmadu Kida, and Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashir Ojulari, were sworn in alongside nine other members representing Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. The North West zone is represented by Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu, the North East by Yusuf Usman, and the North Central by Babs Omotowa, a former Managing Director of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas.

Austin Avuru represents the South-South region, while David Ige and Henry Obih represent the South-West and South-East respectively. Government ministries are represented by Lydia Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, and Aminu Ahmed from the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The ceremony was attended by prominent government officials including Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, and Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil) Heineken Lokpobiri.

After the swearing-in, President Tinubu proceeded to the All Progressives Congress National Summit at the State House Banquet Hall, underscoring the political significance of this milestone.
