North-Central APC Forum Endorses Tinubu and Mutfwang, Adopts Green Cap Movement for 2027

The North-Central APC Forum has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for their respective second terms, marking a notable political alliance ahead of the 2027 elections. The endorsement followed an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday night, according to a statement released on Saturday by the forum chairman, Saleh Zazzaga.
The forum declared its adoption of the Green Cap Movement, a political initiative linked with Governor Mutfwang, as the preferred platform for the Plateau governorship election in 2027. “We have decided to adopt the Green Cap Movement in Plateau because we believe the time is now,” the statement said. Although Mutfwang is a PDP member, the forum lauded his performance and insisted on supporting his continued leadership.
The statement also reaffirmed the forum’s endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term, citing his “exceptional performance” as justification. It urged Mutfwang to consider joining the APC, arguing that such a move would benefit both the governor and Plateau State.
Addressing criticisms that the Green Cap Movement is a PDP-exclusive symbol, the forum dismissed such claims as “baseless and misleading.” It clarified that the Green Cap “is not a symbol of any particular political party. It represents a mindset and the people, not a platform,” and that its slogan, “The Time is Now,” is a universal call for reform and accountability.
The forum further demanded the withdrawal of a statement by the Rufus Bature-led Plateau APC executive, which criticized the forum’s adoption of the Green Cap Movement. It also refuted claims that it is not recognized within the APC, affirming its registration and official status at the national level representing North-Central stakeholders.
The statement concluded by criticizing the Plateau APC executive committee for its failure to secure electoral victories for the party and President Tinubu in the 2023 elections.
