Eid-ul-Adha: FG Announces Public Holidays for Friday, June 6 and Monday, June 9, 2025

On Monday, the Nigerian Federal Government declared two public holidays, Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha festival. The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who spoke on behalf of the government.
Minister Tunji-Ojo congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and abroad, reminding them to embody the spirit of sacrifice and faith as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He encouraged the Muslim community to uphold these principles during the festive period.
The minister further urged Nigerians to seize the opportunity presented by the Eid celebrations to pray for national peace, unity, and prosperity. He reassured citizens that the ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are designed to place Nigeria back on a progressive trajectory.
In closing, Tunji-Ojo wished the Muslim Ummah a happy Eid and appealed to all Nigerians to collaborate with the administration in restoring the nation’s former glory.
