Divine Warning to Pastor Adeboye: Leaving RCCG Would Endanger His Firstborn’s Life

During the June Holy Ghost Service at Redemption City, Ogun State, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, shared a personal and spiritual revelation. He disclosed that God warned him that if he were to leave the RCCG, his firstborn child would die.
The sermon, delivered on the midnight of June 7, 2025, was part of a series titled “Destined for Greatness (Part 2).” Adeboye used the platform to stress the importance of divine guidance and spiritual consistency, referencing a message earlier preached by his son, Pastor Leke Adeboye.
He expressed concern about the tendency among many young Christians to hop between churches, often presenting themselves as newcomers at every congregation. Reflecting on his own experience, Adeboye said that when he was born again, there were three prominent ministries attracting attention, but God instructed him to remain with RCCG.
“When I got born again, there were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another,” he said. “But God said to me, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die.’”
He also spoke about the humble origins of RCCG, which was then headquartered in a small building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos. Despite his academic career as a university lecturer, Adeboye was divinely directed to submit to his spiritual father, who had no formal education.
“I was a lecturer at the university. My father in the Lord didn’t go to secondary school, not even primary. But God said this is where you will stay,” he said. He urged believers to discover and remain in the place God has appointed for them, emphasizing that his remarks were not meant to claim RCCG’s superiority over other churches.
