Transfer Update: Victor Osimhen Returns to Nigeria, Weighs Al Hilal Move Amid Galatasaray Interest

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has returned to his home country from Istanbul as he contemplates a major career move. The 26-year-old is expected to announce his decision soon regarding a transfer to Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal or a permanent stay at Turkish champions Galatasaray.
Fabrizio Romano reported that Osimhen arrived in Nigeria on Saturday and will soon notify the clubs involved of his choice. Al Hilal has already booked medical tests in preparation for signing the striker and including him in their squad for the FIFA Club World Cup. The Saudi club is awaiting Osimhen’s final decision, anticipated by the next day.
While Osimhen has agreed personal terms with Al Hilal, the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement on the transfer fee. Al Hilal’s latest offer is €70 million, still below Napoli’s €75 million demand. Osimhen’s contract with Napoli expires in 2026 but is entering its last year, which may affect the transfer negotiations. Meanwhile, Galatasaray has intensified their efforts to sign Osimhen permanently following his successful loan spell where he scored 37 goals.
The transfer saga has also sparked a passionate debate among football fans about Osimhen’s standing compared to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, his former Napoli teammate now starring for Paris Saint-Germain. Fans and analysts are divided, with some praising Kvaratskhelia’s creativity and others backing Osimhen’s goal-scoring consistency.
Popular entertainer Mr Jollof highlighted Kvaratskhelia’s vision and flair, while Osimhen’s friend Vincent Otse emphasized his goal-scoring record. Football analyst Monday Izegagbe pointed out that both players were crucial to Napoli’s Serie A title and have since excelled with their new clubs. Another fan, Mr Azuka Izu, noted that their different playing styles make direct comparisons challenging.
As the transfer deadline approaches, Osimhen’s decision will be pivotal for his career trajectory and the ambitions of both Al Hilal and Galatasaray.
