WAFCON 2025: Super Falcons Stage Epic Comeback To Clinch A Recording-extending Title
Nigeria’s Super Falcons pulled off a sensational comeback on Saturday night, defeating hosts Morocco 3-2 to win the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Rabat.
The Moroccans came out firing, striking twice in the first half through Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy. But the champions showed their pedigree after the break.
Esther Okoronkwo buried a penalty to spark the revival before setting up Folashade Ijamilusi for the equalizer. In the dying moments, Jennifer Echegini pounced on a free-kick to seal the dramatic victory.
The triumph marks Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON crown, reaffirming their dominance in African women’s football.
