BREAKING: Finland Court Jails IPOB Exile Leader, Simon Ekpa
A Finnish District Court has sentenced Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Government in Exile, to six years in prison over terrorism-related offenses.
According to reports gathered, Ekpa was arrested on November 21, 2024, by Finnish authorities after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) launched a probe into allegations that he used social media to incite terrorism and promote violence, activities linked to unrest in southeastern Nigeria.
Following his arrest, the Päijät-Häme District Court ordered his remand, ruling that the case involved “public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent.” The alleged offenses span from August 2021 to November 2024.
During the investigation, the NBI also froze Ekpa’s assets, along with those of his associates and affiliated companies.
