AEDC: Nationwide Blackout As National Grid Collapse
The national electricity grid collapsed on Wednesday, causing widespread outages.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) confirmed the incident in a public notice dated September 10, 2025, shared on its official X handle.
According to the company, the blackout resulted from a loss of supply from the national grid.
The post reads, “Please be informed that the power outage currently being experienced is due to a loss of supply from the national grid at 11:23 am today, affecting electricity supply across our franchise areas.”
It, however, assured customers that efforts were underway to restore normal power supply.
It added, “Rest assured, we are working closely with the relevant stakeholders to ensure power is restored once the grid is stabilized.
