JUST IN: NECO Releases SSCE Results— See How To Check
The National Examination Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2025 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) results, with 818,492 candidates representing 60.26 percent securing five credits and above, including Mathematics and English Language.
Speaking at a press conference, the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, revealed that 1,367,310 students registered for the exams, comprising 685,514 males and 681,696 females. Out of this figure, 1,358,339 candidates 680,292 males and 678,047 females eventually sat for the exams.
He further explained that while 60.26 percent of candidates obtained five credits and above including Mathematics and English, a total of 1,144,496 candidates, representing 84.26 percent, secured five credits and above irrespective of the two subjects.
According to him, 1,622 candidates with special needs participated in the exams. He also disclosed that 3,878 candidates were involved in examination malpractice in 2025, a significant drop of 61.58 percent compared to the 10,094 cases recorded in 2024.
Prof. Wushishi added that 38 schools across 13 states were implicated in mass cheating.
“They will be invited to the council for discussion, after which appropriate sanctions will be applied,” Wushishi maintained.
Additionally, nine supervisors three in Rivers, one in Niger, three in the FCT, one in Kano, and one in Osun were recommended for blacklisting over offenses ranging from poor supervision and aiding malpractice to lateness, unruly conduct, assault, and insubordination.
The Registrar also noted that results of students from eight schools in Lamorde Local Government Area of Adamawa State were withheld due to a communal clash that disrupted the examinations. He assured that efforts are ongoing in collaboration with the state government to ensure the exams are properly conducted for the affected students.
