BALLON D’Or 2025: LaLiga Reveals Why Yamal Was Denied Award
LaLiga president Javier Tebas has alleged that Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was overlooked for the 2025 Ballon d’Or due to his young age.
Despite the snub, Tebas expressed confidence that the 18-year-old winger will soon claim football’s most prestigious individual prize.
This year’s award went to Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé, with Yamal finishing second in the voting.
The youngster, however, did not leave empty-handed, as he retained the Kopa Trophy for best young player—his second in a row.
In contrast to Tebas’ stance, Barcelona president Joan Laporta conceded that Dembélé’s triumph was merited, citing PSG’s Champions League victory as the decisive factor.
