Onyxnews Nigeria reports that Ikhine announced his plan to step down for the governor on Monday at a ceremony in Benin, Edo State capital.
The ceremony had in attendance Gov. Obaseki, state party chairman, Dr Tony Aziegbemi and other party leaders from across the state.

He said 21 years later in the present republic, democracy was taking a new phase as intellects were coming into the political procedure to redirect political processes and situation in the state.
The governor said that he joined PDP because he realised that Edo believed and still believe in the party.
