BREAKING: Tribunal removes popular APC lawmaker
An APC lawmaker representing Patigi Constituency in Kwara State House of Assembly, Ahmed Rufai, has been removed by the Election Petition Tribunal.
OnyxNews Nigeria reports that Rufai was sacked in a judgement on Monday by Tribunal on three grounds of certificates forgery, inconsistency in names and age falsification.
The tribunal, therefore, declared the Peoples Democratic Party, PD, candidate, Sahihu Mohammed Yahaya, winner of the Patigi Constituency Bye Election held on March 14, 2020.
This online news medium reports that the PDP and Yahaya had challenged Rufai’s win at the tribunal. The petitiones had filed petition on five grounds but the three judges agreed to three.
Recall that the APC candidate, Rufai, in build to the election denied forging WAEC Certificate. He made the clarification when featured on radio program on 22nd February 2020.
While explaining, Rufai said that it is part of the unwholesome politics that was making round the online news which is absolutely not true. He said he wrote NECO and WAEC respectively and categorically said that he did not forge any of his certificates.
