Goonew, a Maryland rapper known for his whispery delivery and frequent collaborations with Lil Dude, shot dead in Prince George’s County on Friday night, 18th March 2022.
The rapper died a few hours after being taken to the hospital, according to Goonew’s manager, who told The Washington Post.
Late Maryland Rapper, Following the tragic news, local CBS affiliate WUSA9 spoke with Goonew’s family. Patrice Parker Morrow, Goonew’s mother, told the outlet, “I don’t believe this.” “All he wanted to do was get his family out of the neighbourhood.” When they took him, they took me because he had a heart bigger than his body.”
Goonew was 24 years old at the time.
Markelle is a woman who was born in the United States Goonew, aka Antonio Morrow, released his first mixtape, Certified Goon, in 2017 and followed it up the following year with Goonwick, Big 64, and Goonrich Urkel. Still Servin, his debut studio album, was released in 2019.
Goonew quickly found a regular collaborator in Lil Dude, and the two collaborated on two mixtapes and a slew of singles, the most notable of which is their 2018 hit “Homicide Boat,” which features Lil Yachty. Over the years, Goonew has collaborated with Xanman, A$AP Ant, Kayvo, and Keezah. IDK, A$AP Ant, Redveil, BBY Goyard, and YungManny are among the rappers and members of the Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia music communities who have paid tribute to Goonew online.
In an Instagram storey, A$AP Ant wrote, “May Allah make ya grave spacious.” “I’m not feeling well, bro.”
