Tragedy As High Voltage Kill Over 10 Persons In Zaria

More than 10 persons were confirmed dead as a result of high voltage after electric power supply was restored in some areas of Zazzau in Gwargwaje and Kauran Juli communities along the Zaria-Kaduna Expressway.
The high voltage was said to have generated spark and subsequent power outbreak in the houses affected.
According to a resident in the area, Mallam Abdullahi Tanimu, said, “Electric power supply was restored in high voltage in the area around 1am. It caused indiscriminate spark of electricity gadgets.”
The ugly incident led to the death of a pregnant woman, health personnel, and a police officer and several others.
The Head of Corporate Communication, Kaduna Electricity Company (KEDCO), Abdulazeez Abdullahi who confirmed the number of casualties involved in a statement disclosed that it was a result of high tension line snapping onto the low-tension line, which resulted in a voltage supply outside limits.
He said, “The source feeder was immediately opened in an emergency to avoid further damage. (KEDCO) appreciated the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, for his support in managing the aftermath of the ugly incident.
