Major Appointments Listed By Tinubu
The president-elect, Bola Tinubu, has started finalizing some key appointments to be made into his administration ahead of the May 29 takeover date.
It was gathered that the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has been written to emerge as the Chief of Staff.
Sources who spoke about the development claimed Gbajabiamila has already started operating unofficially in that capacity, and that is part of the reason he was recently seen with Tinubu overseas.
“He has technically resumed with him in Paris, and they are trying to work out process and plans,” a source told THISDAY.
Apart from Gbajabiamila, others said to be in consideration for major appointments into Tinubu’s team, including former Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Wale Edun, and the Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu
According to the source, the president-elect was already looking at building national security and economic teams and has appointed Edun and Bagudu into his economic team, though their specific portfolios are yet to be determined.
The source hinted thus: “Wale is supposed to be the coordinator of the economy, either as Finance Minister or the CBN governor. It is not clear yet what his plans are for Bagudu. But he has also been pencilled in and is going to be operating at a very high and serious level in the administration.”
Tinubu is set to takeover on May 29 as the 16th President of Nigeria after winning the February 25, 2023 presidential election.
