GWR: Ghanaian Chef Completes 227-Hour Cook-A-Thon
In an effort to establish a new Guinness World Record (GWR), Failatu Abdul-Rasak, a Ghanaian chef popularly known as Faila, has successfully cooked for a total of 227 hours.
On January 1, 2024, Faila embarked on a cooking marathon at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, with the aim of setting a new GWR.
After ten days, she accomplished her goal and completed the feat on Wednesday.
Speaking in a social media post, Faila wrote; “Now, it’s time for us to rejoice and jubilate. This victory is dedicated to God and Ghana. Thank you all, m’pagya!”
Throughout the duration of her attempt, Faila received support from various Ghanaian celebrities, including former Black Star footballers Stephen Appiah and Asamoah Gyan.
Ghana’s Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, took to his Facebook page to acknowledge the endeavor and donated 30,000 Ghanaian cedis (£1,981) to the chef.
Faila’s objective is to break the current record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes, surpassing the previous record of 93 hours and 11 minutes set by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci.
