JUST IN: Protesters Hits NASS Over High Cost Of Living
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, led a large group of protesters to the National Assembly to express their concerns about the high cost of living in the country.
Security agencies were present around the National Assembly, particularly at the Federal Secretariat axis, to maintain order during the protest.
The protestors were vocal in their chants and aimed to convey their message to the leadership of the National Assembly.
Despite warnings from various authorities, including the Department of State Services (DSS), about potential risks of violence during the protest, the NLC proceeded with their demonstration against the economic challenges faced by many citizens in Nigeria.
The DSS had cautioned against potential disruptions and violence that could arise during the planned protests by Organised Labour on the 27th and 28th of February.
Dr. Peter Afunanya, the Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications at the DSS National Headquarters, urged the labour groups to consider peaceful dialogue and negotiation as a means to address their concerns rather than resorting to actions that could escalate tensions within the country.
More information on the protest is expected to be provided shortly.
