BREAKING: Rishi Sunak Congratulates Keir Starker As Labour Wins UK Election In Landslide
Labour has achieved a significant victory in the UK general election, leading to Keir Starmer becoming the new prime minister.
Reports indicate that Labour is on track to secure 410 seats, with the Conservatives trailing behind with 144 seats.
Following the announcement of the election results, Rishi Sunak has gracefully accepted defeat and reached out to Starmer to offer his congratulations.
Sunak described the outcome as a “sobering verdict” and expressed regret over it.
In his victory speech after securing the Holborn and St Pancras seat, Starmer highlighted that it marks the beginning of change and emphasized the need for action and delivery on vital issues.
Starmer said “the change begins right here…it is time for us to deliver”.
Some notable losses for the Conservatives include high-profile members such as Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, Jacob Rees-Mogg, and Penny Mordaunt, who were defeated by Labour candidates.
Nigel Farage of the Reform UK party secured a seat for the first time in Clacton, alongside Richard Tice and Lee Anderson.
Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn emerged victorious in Islington North as an independent candidate, while Labour’s Jon Ashworth was defeated by an independent candidate.
George Galloway of the Workers Party lost the seat he had previously won earlier in the year.
Furthermore, Carla Denyer of the Green Party succeeded in winning in Bristol Central, whereas the SNP is forecasted to see a significant decrease in seats, dropping from 43 before the election to just six after the results were tallied.
