Hunger Strike Protest Follows EFCC’s Airport Arrest of Socialite

Published

Aisha Achimugu, declared wanted in March for alleged money laundering, was arrested at Abuja Airport on Tuesday morning, prompting her lawyer to announce a hunger strike against “breach of fundamental rights”.

The arrest followed a Federal High Court order requiring her to meet EFCC investigators on April 29 and appear in court on April 30. Ojukwu stated: “She returned voluntarily… only to be arrested”, while an EFCC source countered that the agency “had no assurance she’d comply”.

The case involves allegations of conspiracy, false pretenses, and possession of illicit assets tied to MBA Trading and Capital Limited.
