JUST IN: Court Discharges Comfort Emmanson, Ibom Air ’Unruly Passenger’
An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, on Wednesday discharged Comfort Emmanson, a passenger accused of unruly conduct and assault during an Ibom Air flight.
Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the five-count charge after the police formally withdrew the case.
Emmanson had faced allegations of disturbing the peace on board, assaulting a crew member, and behaving in a manner likely to breach public order. She had earlier pleaded not guilty.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Police Prosecutor Oluwabunmi Adeitan informed the court that both the complainant and the airline had lost interest in pursuing the case. Acting on instructions from police authorities, she applied for its withdrawal.
Magistrate Salami granted the request and ordered Emmanson’s discharge.
