Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki demands that Oshiomhole should be arrested

The political crisis has taken over the All Progressives Congress in Edo State as it took a new dimension today, whereby the governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, called for the arrest of the National Chairman of the party and former governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole.
Obaseki and Oshiomhole have been at loggerheads for many months over who will control the affairs of the state chapter of their party.
The former governor of the state wants to control the party, the governor is of the opinion that he is the incumbent governor and should preside over the party.
The request for Oshiomhole’s arrest was contained in a petition submitted to the Inspector-General of Police and Director-General of the Department of State Services by the Edo State deputy governor, Philip Shuaibu, on Monday, February 3 2020.
The petition claimed that the APC National Chairman had consistently breached the peace of Edo State by ignoring lawful orders of constituted authorities. The state governor said his administration had banned political rallies in the state but Oshiomhole has repeatedly flouted the ban and organized political rallies.
Governor Obaseki had in a viral video recently promised to deal with Oshiomhole if he keeps disrupting activities of Edo APC.
