See 13 countries FG lays embargo travelling to due to coronavirus outbreak

The Federal Government has laid an embargo travelling to 13 countries over the spread of the deadliest coronavirus.

This was announced at a media briefing on Wednesday 18, March by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.

The affected countries are the United State of America, the United Kingdom, China, Japan, Iran, Switzerland, Norway, Netherland, France, South Korea, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Onyxnewsng earlier reported that coronavirus has killed not less than 80 people in mainland China, with about 2,800 cases confirmed across the country, initiating emergency processes to try and restraint in the pathogen’s global spread.

Making it more tough, Onyxnewsng gathered that the Chinese health authorities said that the virus can be spread before appearance of any symptoms, meaning carriers may not realize they are infected before they transmit the virus to others.

Few months ago, across China, 15 cities with a total population of over 57 million people more than the entire population of South Korea were placed on restriction.

Initial case of coronavirus in Africa

Then in Africa, Onyxnewsng reported that Ivory Coast, health specialists investigated a suspected case of ‘Wuhan coronavirus’ in a female student who arrived from China.

The student, whom the specialists didn’t reveal his name is the first person to be tested for the virus on the continent.

According to Ivory Coast’s Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene, revealed in a statement published by the Minstry stated that the 4-year-old student travelled from Beijing to the Félix-Houphouët-Boigny International Airport in Abidjan on Saturday and was coughing, sneezing and experienced difficulty breathing.

First case of coronavirus in Nigeria

Till the virus found it way to Nigeria, the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in Lagos by the state commissioner for health, Akin Abayomi, the case involved an Italian citizen who came into Nigeria on February 25 from Milan, Italy for a brief business visit.

In accordance to that, a statement by the federal minister of health, Osagie Enahire said the first case of the virus in Nigeria was confirmed by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, which is part of the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
