COVID-19: DG NCDC reveals Buhari’s next week plan over lockdown
President Muhammadu Buhari will take tough actions over the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic after the 28 days of lockdown in Nigeria.
Onyxnews Nigeria reports that the Director-General of the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) Chikwe Ihekweazu, made this announcement on Tuesday, April 21 2020.
While speaking at a meeting with Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari at the state Government House, Ihekweazu said, ”President Buhari will on Wednesday have a teleconference with the governors and there will be some difficult decisions to be made on how to restart the economy, especially on what to start and what not to start.”
The state governor on his part called for the establishment of a testing centre in Katsina to ensure quick confirmation of samples of suspected cases in the state.
Masari explained that Katsina state officials had to travel for about 12 hours after collecting samples of suspected patients for a test in the laboratory at Abuja.
“Availability of a testing centre here will actually help in reducing the duration and the stress we are presently going through. amples from Katsina had to reach Abuja in 24 hours otherwise it would not be tested,” Governor Masari said.
