Covid-19 lockdown: First online wedding conducted in Lagos Church (Photos)

Two members of the Harvesters church in Lekki Lagos, Yinka and Demola have tied the knot via Zoom and it was beautiful.

While many chose to postpone their weddings till the COVID-19 pandemic is over, the lovebirds chose to go ahead with theirs by having it online and they had many guests join in through online too.

Feeling very excited about the wedding, the groom said to his better half: “I’m so happy today because I married my friend. It’s the beginning of the best times ever in our lives. I love you baby”

Last week, the United Arab Emirates has launched an online marriage service that enables couples to wed in the midst of restrictions placed on movement and interaction imposed to stop the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

The disease, has claimed over 100,000 lives globally.

According to UAE’s official news agency, WAMThe justice ministry said on Sunday that citizens and residents can set a date for an online wedding ceremony conducted through video link with a cleric after their paperwork is submitted and approved — also online,

The procedure will see a cleric confirm the couple and witnesses’ identity, before a marriage certificate is passed on to a specialised court for validation.

The couple will receive confirmation of their marriage certificate through text message.
