INEC Announces Final Bye Election Results For All 11 States

INEC has announced final bye election results for all 11 states.

OnyxNews Nigeria reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire, commenced the bye elections across the affected 11 states in Nigeria at exactly 8:00 am on Saturday, December 5 amidst tight security.

The 11 affected states where bye elections took place are Bayelsa, Borno, Cross River, Enugu, Imo, Kogi, Katsina, Lagos, Nasarawa, Plateau and Zamfara.

This online news platform understands that a total of 4,215,523 registered voters were eligible to participate in the bye elections in 36 local government areas, 413 registration areas, 7,702 polling units and 69,921 voting points.

The bye elections took place in Bayelsa Central Senatorial District; Bayelsa West Senatorial District; Nganzai and Bayo constituencies in Borno State; Cross River North Senatorial District; and Obudu Constituency in Cross River.

Others are Lagos East Senatorial District; Kosofe Constituency II in Lagos State; Imo North Senatorial District; Plateau South Senatorial District; Bakura Constituency in Zamfara; and Ibaji Constituency in Kogi, north central Nigeria.

Plateau Bye elections

APC wins Plateau south senate seat

Prof. Nora Dabu’ut, APC candidate, in the Plateau south senatorial by-election, has been declared winner by INEC.

Results announced by INEC showed that Dabu’ut polled a total of 83,151 votes while George Daika, his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent, got 70,838 votes.

Prof Dabu’ut, a first female academician defeated her opponent in 4 out of the six local government areas in the senatorial district while the PDP candidate, Daika, won in 2 local Government Areas.

APC’s Obafemi Saheed Wins Lagos Assembly Seat

APC candidate, Obafemi Saheed, has been declared winner of the Kosofe II State constituency bye-election by INEC.

Saheed polled 12,434 votes defeating Sikiru Alebiosu, his closest rival, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 2,008 votes.

The total number of votes cast during the election was 15,124 as 361 were rejected. 15,133 voters were accredited for the election out of 280,251 registered voters.

Bauchi Bye Elections

APC wins as former Speaker Yakubu Dogara delivers constituency.

The ruling APC has won the Bauchi State Assembly Bye election which held in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi state, northern Nigeria.

Professor Ahmed Mohammed of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, the returning officer of the election, while announcing the result, said the candidate of the APC, Hon. Bala Lukshi polled 12, 299 while his Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, counterpart, Lawal Wandi polled 11,062 votes.

The INEC returning officer, therefore, said the APC candidate was returned elected having scored the highest votes.

Imo Bye Elections

Imo North bye-election but no candidate was returned by INEC

APC has been declared the winner of the Imo North bye-election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) without returning a candidate.

The Election Returning Officer, Hakeem Adikum, after announcing the results scored by various political parties and their candidates, said, “I hereby return the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the bye-election held in Imo North on Saturday, December 5.”

Adikum said APC scored 36, 811 votes, while Emmanuel Okewulonu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with 31, 903 votes.

Katsina Bye Elections

APC candidate, Dr. Ibrahim Aminu Kurami, was on Sunday declared the winner of the Bakori State Constituency bye-election by INEC.

The APC candidate defeated Alhaji Aminu Magaji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposiiton party, to emerge winner of the election which held on Saturday.

Professor A. D. Kankia, the returning officer of Bakori local Government State Constituency Bye- election, who announced the final result, declared that Dr Aminu Kurani of the APC scored 20,444 votes, while his closest rival, Alhaji Aminu Magaji of the PDP polled 11,356 votes.

The returning officer of the election also said the Accord party candidate in the election, Abdullahi Sulaiman, polled 729 votes.

Cross River Bye Elections

PDP  candidate, Dr Stephen Odey, was on Sunday declared winner of Saturday’s Cross River North Senatorial by-election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Prof. Ameh Akoh of Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ikwo, Ebonyi, the Collation Officer for the by-election, who announced the result, said Odey scored 129,207 votes to defeat eight other candidates.

The Collation Officer for the by-election  said the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Joe Agi (SAN) scored 19,165 votes to emerge second while the candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Mr Gregory Agam, came third with 388 votes.

“I, Prof. Ameh Akoh of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ikwo, Ebonyi State, hereby declare that Dr Stephen Odey of the PDP having scored the highest number of valid votes is hereby declared winner of the Cross River North senatorial by-election.

“The PDP candidate is hereby declared winner in line with electoral guidelines,” he said.

Meanwhile, the senatorial bye-election followed the death of Sen. Rose Oko.

Similarly, PDP candidate, Mrs Maria Akwaji, also won the Obudu State Constituency seat in the House of Assembly.

The PDP candidate got a total of 32,166 votes to defeat her closest rival, Mr Abor Adaji, of APC who scored votes of 3,546.
