FG Makes Another Announcement On NIN Registration
The Federal Government of Nigeria had earlier directed all telecommunication networks to disconnect all Sim cards that are not registered with NIN.
In line with this announcement, some citizens who have not enrolled for their National Identification Number (NIN) have been struggling to get it in order to prevent their Sim from being deactivated.
OnyxNews Nigeria understands that this announcement also caused large number of applicants in NIMC offices across the country. To make registration easier the federal government launched a mobile app but yet the crowd in enrolment centres still keep increasing.
On Wednesday 27th of January, Punch Newspaper reported that the federal government has released a new announcement on NIN Registration.
According to Punch Newspaper, Telecommunications companies have been licenced to register people who do not have National Identification Number (NIN) so as to make registration easier and also reduce the large number of applicants in NIMC offices across the country.

Director- General of the national Identity management commission (NIMC), Aliyu Aziz revealed that some other public and private organization had also been licenced by the commission to provide national identification number so as to reduce crowds in enrolment centers, punch Newspaper reported on Wednesday.
Aliyu Aziz also announced that mobile network operators had been empowered to also give the national identification number (NIN).
