BREAKING: Soldier Killed At Checkpoint
The Ebonyi State Government on Thursday confirmed the death of a soldier who was shot dead at his duty post.
Gunmen on Tuesday killed soldier near Ebonyi-Enugu state checkpoint border.
The incident occurred near the border between Uburu community in Ebonyi and neighboring Mpu in Enugu state.
The state security officials are urged to apprehend the assailants.
Uchenna Orji, the state’s Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, confirmed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting in Abakaliki, the state capital.
He was perplexed as to why an officer in charge of protecting people’s lives and property would be assassinated while on duty by evil men.
He blamed politicians in the state for the killings, claiming that their unflattering and inflammatory publications were to blame.
“People try to incite politicians and communities against each other, and this is what leads to the state’s violent killings,” he said.
Orji praised the state’s Ebubeagu security outfit for commending security agents in the state for maintaining law and order.
