Christian Group Sends Fresh Warning To Nigerians
The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission has warned Nigerians to desist from using hate speech in order to have unity across the country, Onyxnewsng gathered.
The appeal was made by the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam, during a meeting with the at his Abuja office on Tuesday.
According to Pam, Nigerians should be mindful of the kind of words they say, especially in this present state of the country, for such can either build or destroy the nation.
He however commended the Nigerian media over its great role in dissemination of information across the country, especially by its activeness so far which has given Nigerians the ability to speak up.
“The country is in a critical time and we need to be mindful of the things we say. Words are powerful; they can build or destroy a nation.”
“The Nigerian media has played a great role in information dissemination. They have always aired the activities of the commission.”
The secretary disclosed that the commission would begin the transportation of Christian pilgrims to Jordan beginning from June 15, 2022.
Pam said that the inaugural flight would consist of pilgrims from Bayelsa and Federal Capital Territory (FCT), who would depart Nigeria from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
He however promised that the commission would work with the NUJ and support the union in every way possible as partners in progress.
Lagos Government Tasks Muslims To Do This During Their Journey To Mecca
During the meeting, the NUJ National President, Mr Chris Isiguzo, commended the executive secretary for his track record of selfless service and integrity.
“It is on record that your honesty and hard work have contributed in restoring probity, transparency and accountability to the commission within a short time.”
Isiguzo noted that the need for collaboration between the commission and NUJ in advancing the cause of peaceful coexistence and democratic values in the country.
