Gov. Eno Bows To NLC Pressure, Announces N1.8b For Payment Of Workers

The executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced the immediate release of One Billion Naira for settlement of gratuities of retired Primary School Teachers.
Eno made the pronouncement on Wednesday when he met with members of the Organized Labour who joined their counterparts all over the country on a peaceful protest over the excruciating effects of fuel subsidy removal on workers.
The Governor who identified with the plight of workers and swung into action also announced that N800 million be released to clear the backlog of Leave Grants for Workers.
The Media Unit Government House, Uyo reports that Other things announced by the governor for workers include Leave Grant to be incorporated into monthly salaries for prompt payment.
He also ordered that a committee be set up for disbursement of Federal and State Government Palliatives in ten days to cushion effects of the subsidy removal.
