Delta Concert: Pinnick Challenged Davido Of N2.3bn Contract Breach
Davido, a popular Afrobeats singer, is facing a N2.3 billion breach of contract lawsuit filed against him by Amaju Pinnick, Chairman of Brownhill Investments Company Limited.
Pinnick alleges that Davido failed to fulfill a contract to perform at the ‘Warri Again’ event on October 6, 2023, despite receiving a payment of $94,500.
During the court hearing, Davido’s legal team, led by Norrison Quakers (SAN), challenged the jurisdiction of the Delta State High Court in Effurun to handle the case.
They argued that it should be treated as a debt recovery matter and claimed that Pinnick should have issued a demand letter before taking legal action.
Davido also disputed the claim that the person who signed the contract on his behalf, Sosoberokon, was his authorized agent.
He contended that the payment was intended for promotional services rather than a performance.
The court has adjourned the proceedings to December 14, 2023, to rule on the preliminary objections raised by both parties.
