Court Orders Freezing Of 24 Government Bank Accounts In Kano State
The Kano State Government has experienced a legal setback as the Federal High Court has decided to freeze its accounts.
This action was taken because the government failed to comply with a court order demanding payment of N30 billion in compensation to the victims affected by the Filling Idi Demolition exercise.
The freezing of these accounts involves a total of 24 bank accounts associated with the Kano State Government, including its account with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Justice E.A Ekwo, the judge overseeing the case, has also instructed the Kano State Government to appear before the court on January 18.
This appearance is required in order to provide an explanation regarding the frozen N30 billion in the affected bank accounts.
The intended recipients of this compensation are the Incorporated Trustees of Masallacin Eid Shop Owners.
