Federal Government Charges Immigration To Strengthen Security At Boarders

 

The Nigerian Federal Government has issued a directive to the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Caroline Wura-Ola, emphasizing the need for immediate action to ensure the protection of the country’s land, air, and water borders.

The directive specifically calls for the deployment of additional personnel to enhance the effectiveness of border security measures.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this directive during a ceremony in Abuja where the CG and six Deputy Comptroller-Generals were decorated.

 

Minister Tunji-Ojo also urged these newly decorated officers to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians seeking travel documents.

He said, “President Bola Tinubu who approved your appointment would be proud if you realise that your tenure is marked by a series of groundbreaking achievements that will reshape the landscape of service delivery, reform policies, and place the welfare of Nigerian citizens seeking travel documents and other services at the forefront.

I urge you to pay urgent attention to the management of Nigeria’s land, air and water borders, and in particular, more personnel should be deployed to effectively man the nation’s borders

 

“Today, I charge you again, to ensure that your leadership qualities continue to pave the way for transformative change, setting new standards of excellence and dedication in service delivery in Immigration Service.”

It is worth noting that with Wura-Ola’s decoration, she becomes the 18th substantive Immigration CG.

The minister also decorated the six newly appointed Deputy Comptroller-Generals, namely DCG Usman Auna, DCG Babangida Usman, DCG Zainab Lawal, DCG Sadat Hassan, DCG Ijeoma Emenike, and DCG Kemi Nandap.
