Abia University DVC, Emezue Regains Freedom From Abduction
The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of Abia State University, Prof Godwin Emezue, who was abducted by unknown individuals, has been set free.
Emezue was taken last month while refueling his car at a gas station in Umuahia, and the perpetrators also took an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card from Emezue’s wife before taking him and leaving in their vehicle.
It has been reported that the kidnappers received a significant ransom from Emezue’s family before releasing him.
Reports indicate that Emezue was mistreated during his captivity and has been taken to an undisclosed hospital for urgent medical attention.
While no official statements confirming his release have been issued by the management of Abia State University, Uturu, the Abia State Police Command, or the family, some of his close associates in Umuahia have verified the information.
