AFCON 2023: Lagos Set Up Massive Viewing Centre For Super Eagles, Bafana Bafana Match

 

In anticipation of the Super Eagles’ African Cup of Nations semi-finals clash against South Africa, which takes place today, the Lagos State Government has established a massive viewing center at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.

This viewing center is one of 25 located throughout the state, designed to encourage residents to enjoy the thrilling African football tournament that commenced on January 13 in Cote d’Ivoire.

The match against the Bafana Bafana will be held at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake and marks the fourth time the two teams have met in the tournament, with the Eagles emerging victorious in the previous encounters. The kick-off time for the match is 6 pm.

 

According to a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, it is important for fans to watch the match, as Lagos boasts the largest base of supporters for the team.

“Lagos, being the sports capital and the base of the largest supporters of the Super Eagles, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, deemed it fit to provide an opportunity for all fans to watch the match.

“Mr Governor expressed the hope that the national team will triumph in the match because the team has so far shown capacity and technical know-how to win,” Omotosho said.

 

In addition to the Mega Viewing Centre in Onikan, other viewing centers can be found at locations such as Agege Stadium, Abesan Sports Centre, Alimosho LGA Secretariat, Agbado-Oke Odo LCDA Secretariat, L.A. Primary School in Layeni, Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Anglican Primary School in Aradagun, Badagry.

More centers include New Road Primary School in Ajegunle, Femi Gbajabiamila Mini Stadium in Coker-Aguda, Surulere, Epe Recreation Centre, Sprite Court in Festac, Igando-Ikotun LCDA Secretariat, Onisabe of Igbobi’s Palace in Jibowu, Alajede’s Palace in Ijede, Oba’s Palace in Ijegun, Ikorodu Town Hall, APC Party Secretariat in Ketu.

The list also includes Campos Mini Stadium in Lagos, Lagos House Car Park in Marina, Mushin Public Library, YMD Garden in Ojo, Olera Football Pitch in Ojokoro Housing Estate, Afolabi Primary School in Oshodi, Papa Playing Field in Oworonsoki, and Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba.
