AFCON 2023: Lagos Set Up Massive Viewing Centre For Super Eagles, Bafana Bafana Match
In anticipation of the Super Eagles’ African Cup of Nations semi-finals clash against South Africa, which takes place today, the Lagos State Government has established a massive viewing center at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan.
This viewing center is one of 25 located throughout the state, designed to encourage residents to enjoy the thrilling African football tournament that commenced on January 13 in Cote d’Ivoire.
The match against the Bafana Bafana will be held at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake and marks the fourth time the two teams have met in the tournament, with the Eagles emerging victorious in the previous encounters. The kick-off time for the match is 6 pm.
According to a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, it is important for fans to watch the match, as Lagos boasts the largest base of supporters for the team.
“Lagos, being the sports capital and the base of the largest supporters of the Super Eagles, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, deemed it fit to provide an opportunity for all fans to watch the match.
“Mr Governor expressed the hope that the national team will triumph in the match because the team has so far shown capacity and technical know-how to win,” Omotosho said.
