Taraba State Declares Outbreak Of Lassa Fever
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Human Services in Taraba, Zirra Mathias Bubanani, has declared an outbreak of Lassa Fever in the state.
This confirmation came after an NYSC member from Damare orientation camp tested positive for the disease.
The confirmation was made following an investigation on a sample taken from the Corps member by the National Reference Laboratory (NRL) in Abuja.
The Corps member had presented symptoms similar to those of Lassa Fever and was evaluated by health workers at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola.
In response to the outbreak, the state government has advised the public to prioritize good hygiene and sanitation practices.
Residents are cautioned to minimize unnecessary contact and to store leftover foods and food items properly to prevent rat infestation.
