Be Ready, My Next Step Will Be Fire For Fire — Gov Fubara
Governor Fubara of Rivers State recently clarified the nature of President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in the political dispute with his estranged mentor, Nyesom Wike, highlighting that it was a political resolution rather than a constitutional one.
Following a mediation meeting with Tinubu in Abuja last October, Governor Fubara reaffirmed his dedication to implementing the eight-point resolution as a sign of respect for the President.
Despite facing criticism and threats of impeachment from members of the Rivers State House of Assembly aligned with Nyesom Wike, Governor Fubara remained steadfast in honoring the agreement made with President Tinubu.
The disagreement arose from Fubara’s alleged failure to submit the 2024 budget anew to the lawmakers as outlined in the resolution.
Governor Fubara made it clear that the resolution resulting from President Tinubu’s intervention was a political agreement and not a constitutional obligation.
He reiterated his commitment to upholding the agreement as a mark of respect for the President, cautioning against interpreting his compliance as a sign of weakness.
During a solidarity rally with members of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, Governor Fubara emphasized the strong support his administration continues to enjoy from the people of Rivers State.
He underscored his determination to lead with integrity and implement policies that genuinely benefit the populace.
Governor Fubara urged the people to remain unwavering in their support for his administration, assuring them of his dedication to standing by those who uphold righteousness and abide by the law.
He reiterated his administration’s focus on promoting good governance and enhancing the lives of the people of Rivers State.
The Rivers State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees expressed appreciation to Governor Fubara for his backing and care for the workers, confirming their solidarity with his administration.
He said, “When you are doing what is right, I will stand by you. Nobody, whether full or half is going to intimidate you. Brace up, I say brace up, because the next step, it will be fire for fire in Rivers State. Everything will be implemented. For our people, the great and wonderful people of Rivers State, we will continue to lead you with the fear of God.”
