Finidi George Appointed As Super Eagles New Manager
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has named Finidi George as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, following a competitive selection process that saw him emerge ahead of Emmanuel Amuneke.
George, who previously served as an assistant coach under José Santos Peseiro, took temporary charge of the team for two friendly matches in Morocco last month.
His first major task will be to lead the Super Eagles to crucial victories in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic, scheduled to take place in Uyo and Abidjan, respectively, in just over five weeks’ time.
With the team currently sitting in third place in Group C behind Rwanda and South Africa, these matches are must-win encounters for the Super Eagles.
