EPL: 19 Clubs Vote To Keep VAR, Make Six Changes
Nineteen Premier League teams have voted in favor of maintaining the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system for the upcoming season.
With at least 14 votes required from the 20 clubs to enact any changes, the decision to continue with VAR was made during a Thursday meeting where the proposal to cease using the technology, raised by Wolves, was dismissed.
The clubs have collectively agreed to concentrate on enhancing the implementation of VAR by addressing six key areas.
These areas include raising the threshold for technology intervention and minimizing disruptions to the flow of the game.
In a statement released by the Premier League, it was confirmed that the clubs have opted to uphold the utilization of VAR in the league for the foreseeable future.
“Premier League clubs today voted in favour of continuing to operate VAR in the Premier League.
“While VAR produces more accurate decision-making, it was agreed that improvements should be made for the benefit of the game and supporters,” the statement read in part.
