With only hours to go before the gubernatorial election, security has been significantly tightened across Edo State.
As voters begin to arrive at polling centers, Nigerian Army and police personnel have blocked major roads and intersections.
Reports indicate that key areas, including: Agho and Joromi junctions (Ekenwa road, Benin City), Oba market Road, Ebiwe, Forestry, Mission road junctions, Sonkpoba junction (Sapele, Airport roads), Asoro primary school (Sokponba) have been sealed off, restricting motorist passage.
Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) are stationed at strategic locations, such as Akakpava road by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The enhanced security measures come as voters prepare to elect a successor to outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki.
