At the 30th MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester, United Kingdom, South African artist Tyla was a standout winner, taking home three prestigious awards.
Despite facing tough competition from Nigerian stars like Asake, Tems, Rema, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr, Tyla emerged victorious in categories such as Best Afrobeats Artist and Best African Act.
In a stunning accomplishment, Tyla also clinched the Best R&B Artist award, triumphing over popular American artists such as Kehlani, SZA, Tinashe, Usher, and Victoria Monét.
To cap off her incredible night, Tyla delivered a captivating acoustic performance of her hit song ‘Water.’
On the other hand, despite multiple nominations, Nigerian singer Ayra Starr was unable to secure a win in any category she was nominated for, including Best African Act, Best New Artist, Best Afrobeats Artist, and Best Push.
Tyla has consistently shown her musical prowess by triumphing over Nigerian artists in various prestigious music awards, such as the Grammys and the MTV Music Video Awards.
