How To Quickly Defrost Your Windscreen During Winter

How To Quickly Defrost Your Windscreen During Winter
With colder weather sweeping the UK, many of us will have spent the morning waiting for the windscreen to defrost in order to get moving.
But is there a faster way to defrost your car?
Heating up the car
Sadly, much as it’s not the fastest option, the safest way to clear your windscreen is to turn on the heating inside your car, spend five minutes waiting, and then drive off.
It might feel like a frustrating use of time, but it’s a lot less time wasting than hanging around a garage trying to get your smashed windscreen fixed!
Boiling water
It might sound tempting to throw a lot of very hot water on your windscreen in order to make it defrost quickly. And it’s easy to understand why – it works.
Unfortunately it can also cause your windscreen to smash, either straight away, or over time. So while it can be very tempting, it’s very important that you don’t do it.
Warm water
Using boiling water is out: but what about warm water? This is a slightly more debatable choice of tool, with many social media users claiming that warm water poured onto the glass, or rubbed over the glass in a plastic bag, will melt the ice quickly without damaging your windscreen. Experts do not think it’s worth the risk, however.
Deicer
Spraying deicer across your windscreen should melt the ice quickly. If you don’t have any deicer, you could try a home made version by combining one part vinegar to three parts water and spraying it.
Prevention
The quickest option might be to try and avoid your car freezing in the first place. Using a screen cover can help – and also pay attention to the cars on the road each morning.
Some parking spots which are more protected than others might not get as cold, meaning they don’t freeze in the first place!
