Wema Bank Awards N11 Million to 131 Women

Wema Bank, known for its innovative banking solutions and the pioneering digital platform ALAT, celebrated Women’s Month by distributing N11 million to 131 female customers across Nigeria through a special draw of its 5 for 5 Promo. The event took place in Aba, Abia State, on Friday, March 21, 2025.
The 5 for 5 Promo, launched in 2021, is Wema Bank’s initiative to reward customer loyalty. Over three seasons, the promo has distributed over N150 million to 2,378 Nigerians nationwide. Season 4, with a prize pool of N135 million, continues this tradition. Since October 2024, the bank has awarded over N50 million through daily, weekly, and monthly draws. In March, the bank dedicated the monthly draw to women, distributing the entire N11 million prize to female winners.
The winners included OGECHUKWU PATIENCE ANI from Aba, VANESSA CHIAMAKA OGBONNA from Lagos, and MUBARAKAHT ABISOLA ALOWONLE from Bodija, each receiving N1 million. Additionally, eight domiciliary account holders won N250,000 each, 40 women received N100,000 each, and 80 women were awarded N25,000 each.
Moruf Oseni (FCIB), Wema Bank’s MD/CEO, congratulated the winners and reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to women’s empowerment. “Wema Bank’s foundation is built on the principle of empowerment,” he stated. “Since 1945, we have prioritized financial inclusion and provided resources for our customers to thrive. We recognize the importance of gender equality and have developed specialized initiatives for women, such as SARA by Wema. The 5 for 5 Promo is another avenue to support our female customers.”
Oseni emphasized the bank’s commitment to making a positive impact and expressed joy in rewarding women across Nigeria. He thanked customers for their loyalty and reiterated Wema Bank’s 80-year commitment to providing a rewarding banking experience.
Wema Bank’s celebration of Women’s Month included various initiatives, such as International Women’s Day commemorations, loan and financial support disbursements, and market access facilitation for women. The 5 for 5 Promo is open to both new and existing Wema Bank/ALAT customers who meet the minimum account funding and transaction requirements.
