Ogun Leaders Call for Unity, Prayer as Nigerians Celebrate Easter

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, former governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel, and Senator Solomon Adeola have extended Easter greetings to Christians in Ogun and across Nigeria.
In separate statements on Sunday, the leaders urged citizens to emulate the virtues of Christ and pray for the nation’s progress under President Bola Tinubu.
Governor Abiodun, through his Special Adviser on Media, Kayode Akinmade, emphasized the importance of hope and resilience, aligning his message with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu. He stated, “As we celebrate Easter, a time-honoured tradition that symbolises renewal and hope, let us reflect on the profound lessons this holiday imparts. Easter, observed by millions, transcends its religious significance, offering valuable insights into the themes of love, forgiveness, and new beginnings.”
Abiodun encouraged Christians to pray for the government and fellow citizens, stressing the need to resist divisive elements. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development, saying, “We will continue our developmental trajectory, which has put our state on a firm pedestal of development.”
Former Governor Daniel described Easter as a reminder of God’s love and sacrifice, urging Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s government to overcome national challenges. “As we celebrate, I urge us all as citizens to draw closer in unity and compassion just as Christ taught us by supporting one another and reaching out to those in need,” Daniel said.
Senator Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, called for prayers for President Tinubu and the nation, highlighting the ongoing implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda. He appealed to citizens to embody sacrifice, patience, and faith, stating, “President Tinubu has so far shown courage in doing what is right for the nation at this time, and I do not doubt that we will be seeing more dividends of democracy soon.”
The Federal Government has declared April 18 and 21 as public holidays for Good Friday and Easter Monday, marking the 2025 Easter celebrations.
