“They Made Me Lie About Ataga’s Death” – Chidinma’s Explosive Court Testimony

Chidinma Ojukwu shocked the Lagos High Court by revealing systemic police coercion in the ongoing murder trial of Super TV CEO Michael Ataga. The 300-level Mass Communication dropout described how officers fabricated her statements, manipulated video evidence, and threatened her during interrogations in June 2021.
“Mr. Bamidele wrote the statement himself because my hands were shaking,” she testified, adding that officers applied makeup to conceal her distress during forced video recordings. Her claims included being handcuffed overnight and instructed to blame co-defendant Quadri for cannabis procurement.
The defense highlighted inconsistencies in police documentation, including torn statements and coerced narratives about N5.38m withdrawals.
Justice Adesanya adjourned proceedings to May 7 for further cross-examination.
