Atiku’s Media Office Rebukes Daniel Bwala’s Critique, Affirms Former VP’s Political Relevance

In a strong rebuttal on Tuesday, Atiku Abubakar’s media office dismissed recent comments by Daniel Bwala, President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, describing Bwala’s remarks as bitter and opportunistic. Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, highlighted Bwala’s former role as Atiku’s spokesperson during the 2023 presidential campaign, calling it ironic that he now lectures Atiku on legacy and destiny.

Bwala had stated that Atiku should “accept the will of God and stop running against destiny,” and claimed the coalition Atiku is building is “dead on arrival.” However, Atiku’s team countered that such statements betray a “desperate effort to curry favour with a floundering administration” unsettled by the momentum of Atiku’s national coalition.

The media office challenged the ruling party’s narrative, asking, “If Atiku is a spent force, why the relentless smear campaign? Why the strategic allocation of presidential platforms to attack him?” It insisted that Atiku remains a formidable opposition leader, central to Nigeria’s democratic progress since 1999, and a champion of reform and electoral integrity.

The statement stressed that Atiku does not seek validation from “political opportunists who shed principles as easily as they change parties,” and reaffirmed his focus on Nigeria’s urgent need for rescue and rebuilding. “Legacy is not defined by the trappings of office but by courage, consistency, and conviction,” it said, underscoring Atiku’s enduring patriotism and leadership.
